BOWLING

PARAPARAUMU CLUB

There, was a.large:gathering of members and visitors at the opening of the Paraparauinu Bowling Club on Saturday afternoon. The president, Mr. A. J. Petherick, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, who included representatives of neighbouring clubs. The president remarked that the green had been considerably improved since last season and should now be in good condition for games. Mr. A. J. Mackay, Paekakariki, a- member of the club, also spoke. The jack was then thrown by Mrs. Petherick, and the vice-president, Mr. E. C. Hawkes, put up the first bowl. Afternoon, tea was- provided by ■ lady supporters of the club, and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in friendly games.
