THE OTAKI RIVER

The Otaki River, which has made considerable inroads into farming properties of repent years, is likely, to cause trouble again unless given attention. The Hon. J. Bitchener, accompanied by Mr. W. H. Field, M.P.. and Mr. Maher, of the Hutt County Council, visited Otaki a lew days ago, and accompanied by Mr. T. O'Rourke, Mayor, made an inspection of fhe protective works.' The Minister stated that a renort had been made on the river, but.the Mayor pointed out that as this was made Some time ago, a fresh, one was desired. The Minister promised to give the matter attention.
