LETTER FROM COUNCIL

In a statement made today, Mr. Evans said he wished to make it quite clear that the cycling centre in no way wished to flout deliberately the New Zealand Cycling Council. The fact remained, however, that no official notification of the disqualification of the Canterbury riders had been received. The letter read at the meeting last night- was unconstitutional, having regard for the rules of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association, inasmuch as it was not sent through the correct channel, namely, tho Wellington Centre, N.Z.A.A.A. and C.A., and could not be received by the cycling centre.
