COLLEGE GIRLS
EXCELLENT CONCERT
The Concert Chamber was well filled last evening, when the Wellington East Girls' College presented their annual concert*and display.' The programme was a very varied one, and the concert, ! which will be given again this evening, showed tho public that side of education which is so important, and which parents do not often have the chance of witnessing. ... Under the /Conductorship of ]\Jr. E. Meier, tho Rongotai College Orchestra played several:' selections, and Mrs. John Woodward and Mrs. Wilfred Andrews sang two delightful duets. There were choruses by third, fourth) and fifth form choirs, the fifth singingtwo selections in French. Swedish drill and exercises -were given by girls at all stages, also demonstrations of elementary pyramids, dumb-bell drill, and country, dances. A "Doll Dance" was contributed by Patsy and Pamela Ashbolt, and a character dance, "Mickey and Minnie," by Margaret and Mary Morgan. "Goblin Market," an adaptation from Christina Rosetti's poem, was presented in a very picturesque manner, the principal parts being taken by Audrey Tanner, Avis Higgs, and Mir-1 iam Cox. An interpretation of "The Duke of Gordon's Daughter," an old Scottish . ballad, concluded the programme, the principal parts being taken by Mary Down, Margaret Jenkins, Trixie Robertson, Iris McNam, and Eva Baron. There were also soldiers and sailors, and a dainty chorus sang well. . - Part of the proceeds will bo devoted to tho Mayor's Distress Relief Fund.
