MURDER OF BOOKMAKER

(Received October 13, 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 12. The Government is offering £200 r* ward for information leading .to th« arrest and conviction of the murderer of the bookmaker Keane.

A mysterious crime was committed early in the morning of September 29. The body of John Stanilaus Keane, aged 37, a bookmaker, with -three bullet wounds in the head and neck, was found near a pavement at Mascot. The ■police are.of opinion that Keane was the victim of a gangster outrage. Apparently his murderers "took .him for a ride," shot him at close range, as witness the powder marks- on his face, and dumped. the body where it was found. Two shillings were found in the pockets. The victim lived at Undercliffe, a suburb four miles distant.
