BYRD'S SUPPLY SHIP

SAFETY FROM STORM

NEW YORK, October 5. A message from Southport, North Carolina, states that Kcar-Admiral Byrd's supply ship Bear was towed into Southport late on Thursday by the tug Blanche, which answered a call for aid off tho Frying Pan shoals.

The coastguard headquarters advised that tho Bear had been towed in be-, cause the captain desired to make port on account of storm -warnings along the coast. Advices state that tho condition, of the vessel is satisfactory.
