■Biwn Betty; winner of the One Thousand \ Guineas but an inexplicable failure iu.'tUe Oaks, has done well again in.Eng' land since the Epsoni Meeting, and her latest success. was ', in ,the Bicheraount Stakes ut Hurst Park , at the end' of August, in whicK she easily beat Angelico and Fur Tor ((third in the Oaks). ■ Brown Betty is owned by the American sportsJhan, Mr. W. Woodward, and after, this season's racing she will be sent over to America to Mr. Woodward's stud, where she will be mated with Gallant Fox, whose first yearlings have been bringing top prices in the States this year. She is said to be an ideal type for the stud, being one of the most shapely of all fillies, with lean, blood-like head, the correct amount of heart room, and delightfullysprung ribs. Her trainer (Captain BoydRochfqrt) is justly proud of her, and he tells that after she won the Guineas one of the best-known French trainers, Frank Carter, on looking her over in the.paddock, remarked to him, "That is the bestlooking filly I have ever seen." •
