MEETING OF CREDITORS

A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt t estate of Rosina Teresa Worters, Direct Hutt- Supplies, Lambton Quay, Wellington, was to have beep held yesterday.at the office of the Official Assignee (Mr. Si Tansley), but. lapsed for. want of a quorum; .Mr. ..J. B. Yaldwyn appeared, for bankrupt, and Mr. A. Hogg for the1 petitioning creditor, Mr. T. R, Popple. ; The statement of accounts showed that the amount owing to unsecured' creditors' was £132 I2s sd. The principal creditors 'were T. R. Popple,-£B3 3s; James Smith,' Ltd., ■ £39 9s. In her sworn ; statement bankrupt said that in 1931 and the beginning of 1032 she was tfie owner of a small retail business, in Bond Street; Wellington. In March.. 1932, she-sold the business to Mr. T. R. Popple for £200. Of that amount she paid £30 3s lOd to her husband, Mr. C. W. Worters, on account of advances made by him in respect of her business. The advances totalled £110. The • remainder, of the £200 was spent by bankrupt in payment of commission, £15, and debtis owing' in respect of the business and personal expenses. On August 5, 1932, Mr: Popple obtained judgment againsf her for £83 3s. The only other large debt was that of James Smith, Ltd. That, debt was incurred while bankrupt was in business. Since selling the business she had been assisting her husband in his business, Direct Hutt Supplies, Wellington. She had no interest" in the business at all, and no money or property of hers was used in the business. With the exception of personal clothing arid an old sewing machine, she had no assets. ■:■..>■ Iv reply to questions, bankrupt said that she was, unable to make any offer to her creditors. The business in Lambton Quay now belonged to her husband, and she* only assisted in the shop. The meeting was adjourned.
