LEAGUE EXPENDITURE
UNPAID CONTRIBUTIONS
BRITISH PROTEST (British' Official Wireless.) (Received October 6, 11 a.m.) BUGBY, October 5. In the Budget Commission of the League Assembly today the Financial Secretary to the British Treasury (Mr. Horo Belisha) caJled for the reform of tho system whereby members of the League which'had failed to pay their contributions to it yet enjoyed all the privileges of membership. "Great Britain alone," he said, "pays onetenth of the cost of the League and the British Empire as a whole provides one-quarter otf the League's income. The League does not frankly ask us to pay what .others do> not pay, but it asks us to pay more than would be required if all tlie States paid their subscriptions." He proposed the measures to preclude the continuation of defaults by the States members concerned. The arrears outstanding last December amounted to £960,000.
