OVERSEAS LEAGUE
RECEPTION AT ST. GEORGE
Inaugurating a series of monthly social afternoons, which are to be held by the AVellington branch of the Overseas League, members met yesterday afternoon at their new .rendezvous, the Hotel St. George. The guests were received by Mrs. H. Kirkc'aldie ana Mrs. W. S. Pearce (membors of. tho executive), and welcomed in a brief speech by Mr. Lambert,, vice-president. Mr. Lambert spoke of the interest taken by headquarters- in the reorganisation, of tbe Wellington branch, a liberal grant having been sent by them for assistance in-the establishment of the branch. Ho hoped the facilities provided wouia meet with the approval of members, ana stated that a member of the committee would be in attendance at the branch's rendezvous every Wednesday; He hoped also that visiting members would avail themselves of the facilities, and that the monthly receptions wouia stimulate interest in the league. Tea was served in the lounge,1 where tulips and purple irises made colourful and artistic decorations. Among those present were Mrs. Sommerville,. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Elgar, Mrs. and Miss Gill, Miss Amy Kane, Miss Bieharason, Mrs. A. E. and Miss Brown, Miss L Meyers, Miss G. Boulton, Mrs. Callendar, Mrs. M. Vickery, Mrs. H. Hewitt, Miss Dougleby (Hastings), Dr. Beaumont, ana Mr. Bussel Boyle (secretary). ■
