SCRAP IRON FOR JAPAN
NANKWA MARU TO LOAD
Advice has been received by Wright, Stophenson, and Company that the Japanese steamer Nankwa Maru left Miikc on Tuesday for New Zealand to load a further shipment of scrap iron for Japan. The Nankwa Maru will arrive at Wanganui about October 27, and other ports of call will be Napior and Port Chalmers. It is possible that she will also include Wellington in her loading' itinerary.
The. Nunkwa Maru will take about 5400 tons of metal, which will bring the total export over tlie last year to about 35,200 tons. She is the fifth vessel to load in New Zealand. It is reported that a- sixth vessel will load scrap at Dominion ports before the end of this year. The Shimioh Maru took away about 7000 tons last December, and she was •followed by the Eyoka Maru, 8000 tons, the Helinspey, 7300 'tons, and "the .Asama Maru, 5500 tons. Tho Asama Maru was in New Zealand last month, and left 'Wellington last Friday for Yokohama.
During the .first eight months of 1933 21,577 tons of scrap, valued at £25,091, were shipped to Japan.
