CAUCUS HELD
RESERVE BANK BILL
ABSENTEE MEMBERS
Approval of the Central Kcscrve Bank Bill was given by a caucus of the Coalition Party this morning. Tho purpose of the caucus was to enable members to hear an explanation of the measure by the Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. J. G-I Coatos), and the meeting lasted two hours. After the caucus the Prime Minister said 'that the meeting had been one of the best ever held by the party. The proceedings had been of a very friendly nature. The absence of Mr. McDougall was treated lightly by Mr. Forbes,-who remarked that the laws of the Dominion could not be changed to suit the opinions of one member. No explanation could be given by the Prime Minister for the absence of Mr. Samuel, Mr. Forbes saying that he was not aware that Mr. Samuel had not received an invitation.
