JHarry, Lister, a professional middleweight ; boxer from Gtreymouth, passed -through/ Wellington today on his way ■Back; to his home town after spending about" 18 months in Australia. In conversation with a "Post" reporter Lister said >'that he had had 35 bouts in Aus--1 ralift, winning 21 and drawing another. In his last' fight he dropped a points de. oision to Eon Bichards, the aboriginal middleweight, at Brisbane on September ,2.3, and a fortnight previously he had defeated Johnny Condon, the Victorian middleweight champion. (Lister said that a professional boxer could do well in Australia once he ]iad proved, his worth, but there were many boxers who were unable to get "among the big money." He did not 2>noVr a great deal about the- amateurs, but while in Brisbane he had sparred with, L..Cook, who beat E. Purdie, New Zealand's Olympic representative, in trie .boxing tests on Wednesday night. He had met the New Zealand team before leaving Brisbane and had expected them to do better nßainsfc the .Australians than the first night's rcsaMs had indicated.
