JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT

The King has approved that Sir Prank Boyd Merriman, Solicitor-Gon'oral, bo appointed President of Probate, Divorce, and Admiralty Division of the High Court in place of Lord Herrivale, who has resigned; also that Mr. Donald Somcrvoll, M.P., bo appointed Solicitor-General in succession to Sir Frank Boyd Merriman, and that the (honour of knighthood bo conferred (upon Mr.Somervell on his appointment. Lord Mcrrivale is 78 years old, and lias boon President of tho Divorce Court i since 191i>.
