UPPER HUTT FIREMEN
PRESENTATION ,OF AWARDS
The Mayor of Upper Hutt (Mr. A. J. McCiirdy) presented long-alervice .honours, won by members of the Upper Hutt Volunteer Fire Brigade, at a reunion held on Saturday evening. The awards were as follows:—Superintendent W. AVnkelin. 10, years' service; Foreman A. Heiford, 5 years' service; Fireman F. Henry, 7 years' service; Firemen W. McCarthy, W. Max, and F. O'Eiley, 3 years' service certifi-| cates. .
The following toasts were honoured:— "The King"; "The Upper Hntt : Borough; Council," proposed by Superintendent W. Wakelin and responded to by the Mayor: "Tho Upper Hutt Fire Brigade,'' proposed by the Mayor and responded to by As* sistant Foreman G. 11. Guthrie; "The Visitors," proposed by Deputy Superintendent T. S. Slinn (Upper Hutt), and responded to by Superintendent. T. WV Slinn (Lower Hutt), Superintendent R. Wakelin (Carterton), Firemaster Webber (Trftntbam Camp Brigade), and Fireman Oldham (Eastbourne): "The Ladies," proposed by Councillor F. P. Keys and responded to by Mr. A. Harper:- "The Artiefts," proposed by Councillor. W. Greig and responded to by Mr. Jones.
