(By Telegraph.—Press Association?) CHBISTCHUKCH, This Day. As tho result of a dispute over the employment of a permanent man instead of a casual on the work of checking trucks, the steamer Gale, which was to have sailed at noon for northern ports, and tho Awahou, which was to have sailed this afternoon for east coast ports, were thrown idlo at Lyttclton. The watcrsidevs who were engaged loft for their homes after protesting at the Railway Department's action.
