COMMISSIONER MOVED ON
A London policeman recently "moved on" Lord Trenchard, the Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police. A reception was being held at a hotel in Park Lane. Outside a policeman was coping with the flood of traffic. He walked over to a motor-car standing by tho kerb and ordered the chauffeur to move on. The chauffeur looked surprised. "This," he declared, "is Lord Trenchard's car." "Oh, yes! I've heard that one before..Move on!" said the sceptical constable. Again the chauffour explained. The policeman told him to bring the owner of the ear from the hotel. Three minutes passed. The owner walked out. The policeman recognised him. It was Lord Trenchard! The policeman saluted and explained that the car obstructed the traffic. "Very good, officer," said Lord Trenchard meekly.! And the car moved on.
