At the request of a prominent Australian pastoralist a stock agent has selected thirty stud Southdown ewes from .Air. J. A. Russell's Blythowood flock at Palmerston North, to be shipped to ATictoria early in November. There appears to be a good demand for Southdowns in A'ietoria, as this is the third time in recent years that Mr. Russell has sent a shipment to the order of breeders iv that country. An enthusiastic meeting of lady supporters of the aquatic Princess (Miss Nancy Olphc'rt) was held last night, when matters relating to the aquatic section of the National Confidence Carnival were discussed. It was decided to hold a cake day at the Princess carnival headquarters I shop, 338 a Lambton Quay, on October 4. A ladies' sub-committee was appointed to [ the main nautical ball committee. j
