LEVEL CROSSING ESCAPE

' (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., September 24. Mr. Jack Moore, a Taihape farmer, had a lucky escape at the Cook Street level crossing when the bumper of his car was struck by the express train at midday. When approaching the. crossing Moore's attention was attracted by a shunting engine in .the railway yard, and he did not observe the oncoming express from the opposite direction. He was uninjured.
