SAVIDAN CUP
"** Tlie annual contest for the Savidan Cup took place at Auckland last Saturday. The handicaps proved too much, for Savidan, who finished .in ninth place. Interest was added to the event by the appearance of C. Anton and S. Downer, of H.M.S. Diomedc. Anton won the last three miles championship of the British Navy, run at Southeiid just before he left for New Zealand,' and tho time he registered, 14min 55scc, stamps him as a runner of class. Ho will bo a welcome addition to the ranks of Auckland distance runners, and he may provide some strong opposition for Savidan and Cooper.
