OBITUARY
MRS. EMMA SMITH
The death, occurred recently in Auckland of Mrs. Emma Smith, one of Neir i Zealand's oldest identities and pioneer*. | Mrs. Smith was born in Auckland | 84 years ago, her parents having come out in the Martha Bidgway. Her recollections of early Auckland were ' often recounted by her and are treasured by her family today. She was confirmed in St. Matthew's Church, by Bishop Selwyn, whose memory sh» cherished, and was married in the same church. For a number of years she had resided in Hataitai, Wellington, where her husband died 13 years ago. Up to tho time of her death, Mrs. Smith took a keen interest in everything and was possessed of so genial a disposition that she was beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a family of seven daughters and two sons, eleven: grandchildren, and tfcflßO "great "grandchildren. ' One of her sons was killed in the Great War.
