A CURIOUS CASE

A curious case as a. result of carbon monoxide poisoning is reported from Chicago. The patient, in tho course of his daily work, had to make up estimates of costs and keep the times of the men'under him.' When he was examined after being poisoned, he was found unable to add simple numbers. Pound .unconscious in his garage, evidently overcome by the exhaust of his motor-car, he remained unconscious for several days, and on recovering suffered from confusion of direction and, forgetfulness. When the sheet on the left side of his bed wrinkled up, tho man pulled sit the sheet on the opposite side in an effort to straighten it,'and in dressing himself he always tried to put the right foot into the left leg of his trousers. He gradually improved in this respect, but could not add even small numbers. In cases of mental disease with other signs of aphasia this is not uncommon, but this is said to be tho first known case its an aftereffect of carbon monoxide poisoning.
