BIG RUGBY

WORTH-SOUTH MATCH

WIDE REPRESENTATION

TOMOEEOWS CLASH

Of -big Rugby football events this season none is greater than the interisland match, which- is to be played at Athletic Park tomorrow afternoon. Tho bringing together of talented playera from all parts of the Dominion is always an occasion for much interest and enthusiasm, and tomorrow's' array of Bugby talent will be no exception. It is- doubtful whether players have been drawn from a wider area for a match than is the case with this North v. South contest. In the North Island team there is one player (Cooper) from a district away beyond the Bay of Islands, and representation in the South team extends away down to Southland, Then, too, the East Coast is represented in; -the. North team—by, the famous G. Nepia-—and the West Coast of the South 'Island has stronger representation (including the emergency) than ever before. Many of the players are well seasoned so far as big Bugby is concerned, but there are not a few niak. ing their first appearance in an engagement of this class. In all .there will be keen interest, and anticipations are that a -fine game will be staged. Prospects 'are being keenly discussed. The South. Island's:.main; hope is regarded as' being in the scrummage, where most of the players have played together before in similar contests, and most of the North faith appears to be pinned in ,the backs. : Except for one or two of tho North Island players, those selected for the match were assembled in . Wellington this morning. It did riot'take the South team long to have its final brushing lip.. An .excellent practice was held at the Park, with Mr. :A. McDonald handling the forwards and Mr. W. J. Wallace directing the backs, the. parties subsequently.! being brought together for full team work. A. Fong (West Coast), who replaces Hazelhurst, showed speed and nippiness which created a very favourable impression.^ The North team, was to have- its training gallop this afternoon. Messrs. P.. .Harvey and A.. A. Adams, the South Island selectors, arrived with the team, Mr. F. E. Sutherland, one of the North selectors, also arrived this morning, Mr. E. McKenzie being due this afternoon. It'isI'notified by the secretary of the New Zealand Bugby Union (Mr. A. E. Neilson) that admission to the stand will be,by reserved seat tickets, which are procurable at the Bugby Union office until 11 a.m. tomorrow. From T p.m. tomorrow tickets for the north and south end blocks of the stand will be available at the turnstiles of. «ntry to those blocks, the price there being 3s.
