PETONE FIRE BRIGADE
ANNUAL REUNION
The. forty-third annual reunion ,o£ the Petone ..Fire Brigade,. -held last evening, was a great success. Superintendent J. P. Gaynor was the ■ chairman, and among those present were the Mayor of Petone (Mr. D. McKenzie), Messrs. Hogg, London, Edwards, Noble, Campbell, Scholefield, and Burns (Petone Borough Council), J. Kerr, J. Quinn, and K. Mason (Petone Fire Board), W. G. Loddei-;: Girling Butcher, A, R. Hislop, and A. "Lv Cook, and representatives from all the leading industries in : the town. The Lower Hutt; • Carterton, Greytown, ■■■Wellington City, and Upper Hutt Brigades were represented. The following toasts were honoured:—"The. King"; "The Parliament of New Zealand," proposed by Mr. Mfi: Kenzie and-responded'''to by. the Hon. M. Messrs. A. R. Hislop,..Ltd.,. have presented to the Hutt Valley Brigades' Association, through the Petone Fire Brigade,' a . silver -rose bowl for competition among Hutt Valley brigades. The superintendent last evening thanked Mr. Hieloa for the gift, and Mr. Hislop replied. The following trophies were presented by Mr. McKenzie:—Gold bar, Superintendent Gaynor (29 years' service), and Fireman H. Turner (33 years' service); two years' silver bar, Fireman;A. Shardlow (17 years) and Fireman J. Hanna (19 years); three years' certificates. Fireman Hughes and Fireman ,B.,House; diploma of the New ; Zealand Firemen's Institute, Fireman L. Horrie; Phare Cup, Fjreman L., Martin; fastest time in one-man wet, Fireman Williams;, fastest time "in oneman dry,1 Fireman Shardlow; Hurley. Bowl, Firemen' 'Slartjn and Gaynor1 and Motorman MeGrath;-Billiards Cup> Fireman O'Brien; Snboker Cup, Motorman • McGrath; Gayndr Cup, Fireman Packwood.
