A CLEVER DISPLAY

That the presentation of exercises invented, for correction of posture, reducing, or development can be as beautiful and as interesting to watch as the most gracefully-planned dance, was proved at the Blue Triangle Hall last evening when the annual display of modern physical culture, given by Frieda Shaw's pupils, hold the interest of a packed house and won warm apI plause. ' The spectacular opening was ' tho "Colour Card," which. Was repeated by request after an extremely popular presentation last year. All the girls took part in this, wearing short satin tunics of cleverly graduated rainbow shades. Rome very striking colour effects were obtained. Miss Maurya Cawley was the leader. Tho audience were called upon to vote in the next section, in which three chosen groups of girls peformed corrective and general toning exercises. A most interesting and instructive item was a posture demonstration which Frieda Shaw herself, conducted.. _ The relaxation and self-expression exercises by a group of girls trained by Miss Marion <Todd weje. very beautiful to watch, butterfly, cloud, and Arabian, dance movements being obtained'by .the movement of gauzy scarves. Miss .Todd's interpretation of Valso Tristo (Sibelius) was another unusual feature. Advanced reclining exercises by Frieda Shaw and hier daughter's, Denise and Diana, were exceptionally interesting, the difficult movements being executed with ease and finish, while the fencing exercises (another request item) were also enthusiastically received. The music, which played an important part in this unusual display, was specially arranged by Miss Gladys .Watkins, who played the accompaniments.
