U.S. GIRL BEATS PRINCE
EXCITING GOLF MATCH
Tho distinction of having been tho Prince of Wales's first woman golfing opponent from the United States and the first woman of any nationality to have beaten him has 'fallen to Miss Beatrice '("B,ea") Gottlieb, aged 28, a handicap 1 golfer. She is a member of the Mount Vernon Country Club, New York (states the London "Daily Mail").
"The Prince and I had a round at Sunnhigdalo," said Miss Gottlieb. "We finished all square after a little bit of indifferent golf here and there;
"Afterwards we went to Coombe Hill. The Prince took 83 for the round, and I was a. lucky golfer to take 80. I won the match by 5 and 4 on level terms. ,
" During the round the Prince saw an iron club with which* limagino I was playing rather well. I asked him if he would like to have it, and I felt very happy when he said that he would take it.
"He gave me a box of golf balls, which I am very proud of. He also signed my scoring card, which .1 will treasure always."
Among the guests at the Boyal Oak Hotel are Mrs. Phillip Mooro and Miss N. Moore, - and Mrs. X., M. Hickson (Nelson) and Mrs.' J. Priestley (Dunedin).
