The latest mail "from the United States brings further news 6f the doings of Leslie Olds, the ex-New',:Zealand junior boys' swimming champion and record-holder. Recently "Buster" was credited with a world's record for an irregular 200 yards distance, and his latest world's record,is for 'the 300-metres" medley.- :, . ■

The, San: Francisco "Examiner" reports that the Lakeside, swimming club has made an application for recognition as, a world's record of Olds's performance in winning the 300 metres medley race in 4miu ■' 15 1-psec, .as/'agajnst .' the. .existing world's record held by-Walter- Spence, of New York Athletic Club, of 4min 31 1-5 sec. A newspaper Report of the race, hold, on August 19, says that Olds beat Gordon Corson, the star of the Lakeside Swimming Club, by 15 yards. The report states that this win gave Olds his- first senior Pacific Association title, aud that he has recently established -a new Pacific Association mark for 500 yards free-style, a new American and world's record for 250 yards free-style, and an American and world's record for 300 metres medley.
