CALCUTTA, September 20.

Four fakirs suspected of kidnapping children at Lucknow were chased a mile until they were exhausted, when an angry mob attacked, stoned, and left them for dead on.the roadside. One crawled- to a railway station and attempted to board a train. He was rescued and,.taken to hospital," where he died. The others succumbed en route to hospital.

The attack on the four itinerant holy men at Lucknow was due to rumours of the kidnapping of children for a human sacrifice under a new building.
