SQUALLY WEATHER
IMPROVEMENT DELAYED
Although barometric .pressure is rising generally owing to tho approach of an intense anticyclone, the development of a slight cyclone, which crossed the Auckland .peninsula, last night, has kept pressure comparatively low over tho northern half of tho North Island. This morning this cyclono was centred off East Cape, and it is having tho effect of. delaying the anticipated improvement in the weather. Today's" forecast, however, promises a gradual decrease in tho southerly winds, which at present are moderate to strong, and which aro even reaching gale force in parts of the North Island. In eastern and northern districts the weather will still be unsettled with scattered showers, but in other districts finer conditions should prevail and a gradual improvement generally may be expected. Temperatures are likely to be cold.
