The Taianafci touring team defeated Otago at Carisbrook by 15 points to JL4. The game -was evenly contested throughout, but Otago's defeat was due to th« failure of their inside backs.
The forwards were well matched, though: the visitors, notably S. Fookes, we're quicker to break from the scrums. The Taranaki backs did nothing in the wayS«£ combined attack, although their defence was very solid, and for the most part tW& were content to play oft Otago's mistakes, Collins, the Taranaki full-back* was sound, in defence, as also was Otago's full-ba£& Taylor. The latter was in good goalkic'king form.
