A successful year was recorded in the report of the Wellington Suburbs Defence Rifle Club, presented to the annual meeting last evening. Mr. W. G. Fellingham, president, presided.
The report stated that the season had been trying, aud it was inadvisable to take any unnecessary risks ill the expenditure o£ club fund*. Upkeep of targets proved an exceptionally heavy item. The balance-sheet showed that cash in hand amounted to £8 14s, and in addition to that there were 1300 rounds of ammunition still on hand. A new system was adopted during the season whereby all cups connected with the championship were awarded on a handicap basis, the report stated. Four shoots in each aeries counted. The programme was so arranged that the final shoots in all series were held at the end of the season. This arrangement proved entirely successful.
