MENTAL PATIENTS
BORDER-LINE CASES
HOSPITAL BOARD OBJECTS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HAMILTON, This Day.
Strong indignation was expressed at a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board today at a request by the superintendent of the Tokanui Mental Hospital that the board accept a number of inmates of the Mental Hospital.
It was explained by Mr.. M. M. Hockin, tho superintendent, that ha had been informed by the mental hospital superintendent that his institution was overcrowded and that he had been informed by' tho Director-General of Mental Hospitals that border-line casos should be sent to the hospital board.
The board decided to .inform the Minister and tho Director-General that they declined to accept ininaj.es from Tokanui, on the grounds that the, matter was one for tho Department, that the board had no facilities or accommodation for them, and that the presence of such patients was likely to upset the general working of the hospital.
