SILK AND TIMBER IMPORTS
BUGBY, September 8. At the- request of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, tho British Import' Duties Bovisory Committee is attending to the revision of silk and artificial silk duties while discussions between British and Japanese textile representatives are in progress. . The committee, at the request of the Government, lias undertaken to inquire into representations made by the Cana-j diaii Government to tho effect that the | preferences granted to Canada by the agreement on timber negotiated at Ottawa are likely to be frustrated by the creation and maintenance of timber prices through the State action of the U.S.S.B. Canadian timber interests have formulated a detailed statement of their case, which has been forwarded to the Advisory Committee.
