MAN FINED AT NELSON

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

: • . NELSON, September 7. Yesterday the _ bailiff, Mr. M. Cussen, went to a house, in Mount Street, occupied by William Ernest Smith, with a warrant to take possession of the premises.. The,occupier refused to vacate"the house, and acting on the warrant the bailiff followed him inside. In the kitchen Smith turned on the bailiff, striking him a blow on the nose. ' ' !

This . action resulted in Smith. appearing before Mr. T.. E. Maunsell; S.M., in the ''Magistrate's Court today charged with assaulting . the bailiff when in: the execution of his duties; He was fined £5, in default a month's imprisonment, two. weeks being allowed for payment. ' ';
