OBITUARY
MISS MARGARET DONALD
The'death took place on Wednesday at the residence of her niece, Mrs. Claude Kidman, Hcretaimga, of one of Wellington's earliest settlers, Miss Margaret Donald, at the age of 88. She arrived from Scotland, as a child of six, with her parents in the sailing ship Travancore. They went first to Lyttclton, and then to Wanganui, and finally settled at Karori,. where her father made "The Karori Tea Gardens,'"1 which he carried on till his retirement. Miss Margaret Donald devoted her life to her aged parents, nnd to a very old friend of the family. Though living a very retired life, she had a eireSv of devoted and loyal friends, who will mourn thoir loss. She was a very active member of St. Mary's Church, Karori, and was a member of the Early Settlers' Association. She had very lively recollections of tho earthquakes of the early days, and saw tho development of both Karori and Wellington, from scrub and bush. Two sisters and «a brother survive her.
