PLAY-READING EVENING

A supper party and play-reading was given by the Wellington branch of the League of Nations Union-.on Wednesday evening for visiting delegates, in the club-room of the New Zealand Educational Institute, in the "Evening Post" building. Mr. W. J. McEldowney (president of the Wellington branch) was host. The play, which was read by members of the AVellington Repertory Society, was "These Things Shall Be." by Leonard Hine and Frank King. There was a large audience, and the play, which was beautifully read, was listened to with absorbed attention. Those who read parts were Mesdames Horton, Baldwin, and Berry, Misses Hardinge Malt by, Horton, and Ahem; and Messrs. J. Baldwin, C. Watson, E. C. Baldwin, H. Herd, W. J. McEldowney, Keesing, Zahara, Isaac,. Hayes-Towns, and Le Grove.
