A message from St. Pierre and Mique* lon states that rioting by the populacal at St. Pierre in protest against the imposition of taxes by the Governor o$ the French Colony, resulted in the rush* ing of two warships to the port, and thflj occupation of the city by armed sailors*
St. Pierre and Miquelon, small islands to the south of Newfoundland, axj French possessions.
