SEASON OF MANY CHANGES

When the French challenger Eodoslo defeated England's bent in tile Two Thousand Guineas at Newmarket in April, and then returned across the Channel to win the French Two Thousand (I'oulo dMissiii dcs l'oiilains) at Longchilmp a little over a fortnight .later, it certainly looked as if Franco had a colt this season well above the ordinary. But in subKixjiient racing it has been shown that there are probably two superior tolls in his oivrf country, Cappiollo .and Thor. In the FrpucliO)erby (Prix dv Jockey Club) at Chantillyou Juno 11 M. Alarecl Bouesac's Thor was an easy victor over Baron E. de ■ Rothschild's Camping and M. L. Volterra Js Casterari, with Lady Granard's Cappiello in fourth place. Two weeks later, jhowevcr, Thor was sent out. favourite for'vthe Crand Prix de .Paris (1. mile 7 furlongs)' at Longcliunip, but lie was beaten half a length by Cappicllo. Kodosto, who had only three moderate colts to oppose him in the French Two Thousand, wife-not a runner'in the French (or Epsom) tDerby, but he was stepped out in the Gram!
