AUSTRIA'S REQUEST
TO RAISE SPECIAL FORCE
POWERS NOT AVERSE
LONDON, August-10. The "Daily Telegraph" learns that Austria has asked the Italian, French, and British Governments' permission to raise a special force of 8000' men to deal with terrorist outrages. It is understood the Governments arc willing to. concede the request on condition that the force is recruited for a limited period only, and its strength is included in the limit of 30,000 imposed by the Treaty of Saint Germain for the regular army. The present regular establishment in Austria is only 22,000, so the proposed force is within the statutory total.
