ALEXANDER MINES REPORT
The report of Alexander Mines, Ltd., for the month of July, 1933, is as follows:— No. 3 South drive (eastern.block): Driving was continued, and the reef exposed for a length of 78ft. For the last 20£t driven south, the lode has been small, averaging about 15in in width, and lying very Hat. There is still a small reef going south, but this can be stoped out later from the intermediate below. No. 3 intermediate north: This face has been driven to 120 ft north of the winze. Several boulders of stone were passed, through, but no stone of a "permanent nature has been discovered. No. 4 north drive: This drive has been extended to a distance of 282 feet north of the main crosscut. In the early part of the month a fair amount of broken stone was passed through, but latterly no stone has been showing. The country in the face at present is very hard. A crosscut has been put out in the western wall 18ft, and, although the country is good, no stone was passed through. Stoping: Stoping was carried on as usual above and below No. 3 level north. The second stope on the eastern block has been risen for, and taken off, the reef in the back being from 4ft to Bft in width. The stone is lengthening fast on the north end, and also improving in width. Prospecting work from the stopes is also being carried out on this end, several large boulders of stone to the eastward of the stopes being discovered. Battery: During the period 381 tons were sent to the battery and 385 tons crushed for a return of 2760z.11dwt of melted gold. The cyanide department for . the same period treated 253 tons of sand for 120oz 6dwt. Total value, £2225. In addition, eight tons of concentrates have been saved, worth £46 per ton, likewise 5631b of slimes concentrates, worth £119 15s 6d per ton. In all the above 'estimates gold has been taken at 120s per fine ounce. A subsequent report, dated August 4, leads:—"Since the above report was written reef has been intereected in No. 3 North Drive (eastern block). This drive is driven out 8 feet to the eastward of the eastern block and strong body of ore discovered. The stone has been driven into four feet without the eastern wall showing. The stone is clean and solid and is going strong underfoot. . Gold is showing in the stone."
