PETONE TECHNICAL COLLEGE

The monthly meeting of the Board of Managers of the Petoue Memorial Technical College was held last evening. Present: Mr. D. McKenzie (chairman), and Mrs. Aitchison, and Messrs. E.>Neill,' W. V. Dyer, W. Parkinson, H. Toombs,; I?. Warner, and W. B. Nicholson. -• ' The resignation of the art class instructor, Miss I/ear, was accepted, and it was decided to advertise the vacancy. ■ The Ilutt Valley Electric Power Boards offer to install an electric cooker free for the cookery class was accepted with thanks. _ , The question of certain improvements to the oil! buildings was. left in the hands of the works committee for report. The gift by Mr.'H. Toombs of a glass case of stuffed New Zealand birds was accepted with thanks. • The principal, Mr. A: MeFadyen, reported that the half-yearly examinations had now been determined and that the results were satisfactory. There were now 72 girls and 132 boys on, the roll in the day classes, and 292: pupils attending the evening classes. The (results of the sports activities were very satisfactory. Arbor Day had been observed by the] pupils by planting a hedge. Ah evening class in motor mechanics : had been insti-; tuted in July. An. election of members to represent local bodies, employers, and parents would be held at the end of September.
