An evening of French music, on which Mr. W, Rpy Hill read a paper, was greatly enjoyed by the song group of the British Music Society in the University Women's Clubrooms .last. Monday. Recorded illustratiops on £he gramophone (lent by Mr. Ernest Dawson) were supplemented by the .following songs:—Miss Marjbrie Bennie, "L'Heiire Exquise" (Hahn)' arid "Le Soupir" (Duparc); Mr. Harry Brusey, "I Have So Many Things to Tell Thee" (Ferrari); Misses Grace Gaudin, and Ngaire Coster, "Now is the Time'to Love"' (Gounod); Miss Irene Hirst, "Papillons" (Chausson), "11 pleut dans inon coeur" (Debussy), and two of Wekerlin's French folk songs; Mr. Arthur Harding,. "Bois Epais" (Lully); Mrs. Ramsey, "Gavotte" from "Mignon" (Thomas) and "When All Was ■ Young," from "Faust" (Gounod); Miss JSIla Fair, "To the Spring" (Gounod), "Without Thee" (Gounod); Miss Lalla •Vondersloot, "Florian's Son" (Gounod) and "Come, Sweet Morning (old French); . Miss Christina Young, "Fair Spring is Returning" (Saint Saens); Miss Mavis 'Chain-. berkin, "Open Thy Blue Eyes"_ (Massenet) and "Ritonrnelle" (Gliaminacle); Miss Ethna Grieg, "Serenade", (Massenet). Misses Florence Hobljs and Nora Gray played the accompaniments, the latter also providing piauo solo illustrations. A most enjoyable evening concluded with
