Porirua Women's Institute. Mrs. Kyan presided ovex1 a largo gathering of members at the recent meeting of the Porirua Women's Institute, and welcomed three new members. Mrs. Wright gave a demonstration of wool flower work. Mrs. Whetstono and Miss Hasse sang a duet. Mrs.; D. Daley is leaving the district, and Mrs. Ryan expressed the regret of the members, and wished her every happiness in her new home, The hostesses for the afternoon wcro Mrs. D, Daley and Miss Briggs. Concert at Victoria Hospital. A happy afternoon was spent at Victoria Hospital recently when Mrs. Kolland O'Eegan, assisted by Mrs. Casserley (formerly Miss Teresa Mclnroe), Miss Isabelle O'Began, and Miss Clark, gave a musical entertainment. The guests werd received by Sister Lee 3, and their programme included songs, 'cello, elocution, and pianoforte items, all of which woro greatly enjoyed by the patients. Sketches of India. At the last meeting of the Women's Study Circle, held in the Y.W.C.A. rooms, Bouleott Sti'cot, MissM. Graham gave a talk on her interesting experiences in some of the' cities she visited while in India. She told of the wonderful magnetism of some of the shrines, and delighted her audience by showing some beautiful sketches she had drawn and coloured, while there. Miss Graham was aceorcd a very hearty vote of, thanks for her very interesting address. Plays and Sketches. A programme of short plays and sketches will be given in the V.M.C.A. Lounge on Monday next by the Good Companions' Club, in aid of the Nurses' Club. The function is being held under the auspices of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Trained Nurses' Association, Enjoyable Party. A large party spent a most enjoyable evening recently at the "Crow's Nest," Island Bay, the occasion being a joint party in honour of Mr. Douglas Hall Crease, Miss Audrey Sutcliffe, and Miss Muriel Suteliffe. The lounge was tastefully decorated with spring flowers, and the cheery fires added to the comfort of the guests. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Murdoch, Mr. and Mrs. S. Stewart, Misses K. Tustin 0 M. Robertson, Edna Crease (Wanganul), K. Blaxall, H. Lane, E. Martin, V. Kelly, C. Longmore, J. Kennedy, M. Munro, M. Clouston, and P. Mason; and Messrs. S. Kidd, D. Gibson, L. McAneny, L. Giles, C. Dillon, D. G. Stark, J. Foot, M. Kennedy, N. Davy, E. Samson, T. Hewitt, P. Brodie, and L. Carter. Smith Family Knitting Contest. The closing date for the Smith Family knitting competition has been extended till the end of the month, as a number of competitors have not yet completed their garments.
