KIATERE HARRIERS
There- was an attendance of nineteen at the Kiatere (Masterton) Harrier Club's outing on' Saturday. Much' interest was taken in the juvenile championship, for which there were seven starters. The boys were started by Mr. o.' Traill over a course of three and ODe-eighth miles, laid by Messrs. W. Hawken and F. Harrison. A fast pace was set by A. McDonald and J: Lang, which gained them some yards on D. Nelson and L. Francis. These positions did not alter until the turn for home, when McDonald, who was running neck and neck with Laing for first position, had to drop back. L. Francis, running freely, had now displaced D. Nelson for third place, and before the finish both these runners passed A. McDonald. J. Laing won nicely, cloßely followed. by L. Francis, with D. Nelson third. The Winner received a cup presented by L. Henderson and B. Kingdon. The senior members had a run over six and a quarter miles, being two laps of the juveniles' course. The runners were divided into two teams, the B team being given a start on the A team. A good, solid training run resulted. Fastest timo, 37min Slscc, was made by A. Burns. A' good performance was registered by O. Gas-kin, a novice, in securing the first position in B t team.
