AUSTRALIAN BUTTER TRADE
A vote of £10,000 for advertising Australian dairy produce in Great Britain has been passed by the Australian Dairy Board. . A London manager and three travellers are to be appointed to push Australian butter . and cheese. The board stated that the marketing organisation in the United Kingdom is unsatisfactory, as too' much attention had been devoted to Tooley Street, and not sufficient to establishing a larger trade with retailers. The time had arrived, they considered, when the efforts should be concentrated upon an objective which would lessen the gap between producers and consumers by securing a larger proportion of the counter trade, through the medium of-retailers. There were thousands of retailers in the United Kingdom who would purchase Australian butter and cheese if facilities were provided by which they could obtain regular supplies, and there were tens of thousands of consumers who would buy our products if stocked in the shops where they bought their household requirements.
