Maunsell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court- this morning charged with the theft on July ,26 of £2; in money the property of Anne Benwiek, by whom she was employed. . A feature of the theft was that"the defendant had arranged the room from which tho money was taken to give the appearance that a: burglary ■had •: .taken • place. Tho defendant pleaded.' guilty'and was remanded for a week for ■ sentence.: Bail was fixed at £25;';. ' . Up to July 31 the Labour Department ■in Nelson received 102 applications for subsidies under the No. 10 unemployment building scheme, the total amount involved being £35,620.
