Tho slight anticyclone to the north has passed eastwards, and an intense depression now extends from south-eastern Australia on to southern New Zealand. Freshening westerly to northerly winds have consequently prevailed, and have been accompanied by rain since last nlclit at places In western districts from Taranaki southwards.
