MAN WITH A KNIFE
POLICE ALLEGATIONS
Seen running from bush to bush along tlie Hutt. Road, with a.knife in his hand, a young man was recently arrested, and appeared before Mr. 13. Page, S.M., at tho Magistrate's Court today on a charge of being an idle and disorderly person in that ho had in* suffieiont lawful-means of support. Sub-Inspector Martin said that tho accused had made statements to.the poiicfe that led them to think he was ;i mental case, and he had been on remand at the gaol. : Complaints had been received before about him. using a, knifo when women were in tho vicinity. Tlio. doctors, hbVi'CVCT/. were not prepared to certify him. Mr. Page: It does not seem as though he is very sane if lie goes about with a knife and talks in that way. It was suggested by the SubInspector that if tho accused was sent to prison for a term something might develop that might cause him to be sent to another institution. The Magistrate said that' he would roniand tho accused until Tuesday and would have him-medically examined in tho meantime.
