NATIONAL GUAEDS
United Tress Association—By ElecttlO Telegraph— Copyright. . LONDON, August 2. The Dublin political correspondent of "The Times" says that tlic situation regarding the search for arms is developing rapidly. Undoubtedly the •weekend domiciliary -visits to National Guards, also to the houses of bank managers and others holding arms permits, none of which ivns renewed after July 31, arc part of the Government's campaign agaiiist the Guard, of which the Government is .-ifraitt owing to General O'Duffy's prestige and powers of organisation. Although not avowedly Fascist, tho aims of the Guard combine Hitler's and Mussolini's. General O 'Duffy makes no secret of | his intention eventually to participate in politics, although ho has promised not to attempt a coup d'etat. Nevertheless his programme is attracting large numbers of young men from all quarters. Obviously the Guard will play an important part jn the future.
