DRUNKARD'S PLEA
(Special to the "Evmmg Post") PALMEESTON N., This Day. Claiming that he had recently beem left \£ 7000, and was now awaiting probate of tho will, William Maynard Islywu Evans, aged 34 years, described as a labourer and seaman, with no fixed abode, asked for leniency in the Palmerston North Magistrate's -Court yesterday when three charges were preferred against him, Mr. J, I/. Stout, S.M., refused the-request- to send him to tho island, and sentenced the accused to 14 days' imprisonment,on bnci.of the counts.: ■ ..; ; : .;-' : .".'),-.{f-r >.
